There is a
lot of information about meditation, which has made a name for itself recently,
and its benefits have also been determined by doctors. For this reason, many
people often have the thought of meditating. Thus, we have compiled for you
firstly what meditation is and then how much it should be practiced.
The word
meditation has its origin in the Latin language and is derived from the word
meditatio. The word meditatio can actually be interpreted in the meaning of
reviewing something, thinking about it. So actually what is called meditation
is an act of deep thinking.
Sufism is
also based on Meditation. However, meditation here is referred to as
contemplation, and there is no one-to-one correspondence in terms of
application. Because there is a process in the form of introspection that takes
place without thinking about anything.
First of
all, the mind is cleared in meditation. Learning to empty the mind in
meditation should be the first priority. Because in this way, you can clear
your mind and touch your true self with a deep peace. Exactly at this point,
you can raise the consciousness level of your soul by touching your deep self.
In this way, there will be an enlightenment and clarification in your
consciousness. This is called the contemplation process. Now let's look at how
much time you need to devote to your enlightenment process.
How Many Minutes Should Meditation Last and
When Should It Be Done?
Usually,
how long the meditation lasts is up to you and in your control. However, it is
recommended to meditate between 20 and 30 minutes on average. This way, you can
set aside some time for yourself where you won't be distracted. If you get used
to meditation and think that time passes too quickly, you can increase this
time to 40 minutes.
However, it
should be remembered that meditation has no time. Some monks can meditate for
days. Therefore, you should decide for yourself how much time you plan to
devote to meditation.
In
addition, a few minor caveats should be made. Especially if you have not meditated
before and if you do not have such experience, you will notice that you have
difficulty meditating at first. For this reason, it is recommended that you let
go of all these processes that can be experienced in the first times when you
start meditating. If you can meditate for 10 minutes, meditate 10 minutes at
first and gradually increase the duration as you get used to it. Believe me, it
is not impossible to spare 20-30 minutes a day for yourself.
You can
think of it as an exercise you can do during your lunch break, even at work.
However, it is not the right move to see meditation as a relaxation exercise
and a task that you can force yourself to practice. For this reason, it is
recommended to meditate for a short time at first and then for longer periods
of time.
