The thyroid diet is a type of diet that is usually followed
by people who have been diagnosed with thyroid. Thyroid disease, which has a
higher incidence in women than in men, is a disease that can be delayed and
even protected at a very high rate by adopting the habit of proper nutrition,
applying a thyroid diet and regular exercises.
It is of great importance that goitrogenic foods are
not included in the diet of thyroid patients. Foods such as broccoli, brussels
sprouts, soy, cabbage types, cauliflower, peanuts, spinach, radishes, millet,
peaches and blackberries are in the goitrogenic food group. If these foods are
not consumed in the amounts and frequency determined by a specialist dietitian,
they may cause deterioration in the level of thyroid hormones.
Dill is a very useful herb, especially for balancing
thyroid hormones. Balanced thyroid hormones can perform their functions
efficiently, and can also have the ability to shrink and destroy nodules with
adequate intake.
Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish and seafood are
among the foods that should be taken regularly to balance thyroid hormones.
Consuming fish in sufficient portions twice a week helps the patient to delay
the complications that are likely to be experienced by regulating the thyroid
functions or to overcome these complications with the least damage. Thyroid
patients are recommended to consume especially tuna, salmon, tuna, mackerel and
cod.
One of the minerals that regulate thyroid hormones is
selenium. Nuts such as walnuts, wholemeal flours and flax seeds are rich in
nutrients, and walnuts should be included in the daily diet of thyroid
patients. At the same time, it is recommended that patients avoid white bread
consumption and turn to wholemeal flour bread types.
Zinc is a mineral that especially thyroid patients
should take regularly. Eggs are a very rich food in terms of zinc. In addition,
patients are recommended to consume an omelet or boiled egg for breakfast.
